Many people wonder what
happens to their materials after they are donated to the Institute.
The archives' staff has put together the following journal to allow you
to see the steps we follow
from the time the mail arrives
until your memories become part of an Institute educational exhibit.
Opposite, Archivists David Nelson and Kimberly Luke examine a typical donation
as it arrives. They will separate the elements of the collection
to insure that delicate
objects, such as letters,
are preserved apart from
larger objects that
might damage them.
