Women in War

The Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) was created in May 1942.  In 1943, the WAAC became the Women's Army Corps (WAC) and was made part of the regular Army establishment.  The Naval Air Station at Daytona Beach trained about 28,000 WACS.  They served in over two hundred occupational specialties in the Army, fulfilling one of their recruiting mottos, "Free of man to fight."
