Stephanie Shields
Pennsylvania State University
Professor Shields is the author of Speaking
from the Heart: Gender and the Social Meaning of Emotion (Cambridge University
Press, 2002). Her groundbreaking interdisciplinary work combines perspectives
drawn from work in psychology, history and physiology in the exploration
of ideologies of emotion, gender, and stereotyping.

The FSU Police Department offers
the Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System.
The Rape Aggression Defense Physical Defense courses for women only have
been scheduled for the following dates. RAD is a system of self-defense
and crime avoidance awareness for women only. This "hands-on" course
is not a martial arts class, but a class designed to "develop and enhance
the options of self-defense, so they may become viable considerations to
the woman who is attacked."
The Schedule for 2002 is as follows:
Class 5 - November 12, 14, 19, 21 (Tue & Thur) from 6PM - 9PM
