for the study of women's history. An interdisciplinary collection of printed
books, pamphlets, periodicals, manuscripts, and photographs. Much of the
collection is drawn from the two major women's history libraries: The Arthur
and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America, Radcliffe
College (special focus on women's role in the American crusade for social
justice) and the Sophia Smith Collection, Smith College (focus on the social
and intellectual history of women since 1795). The collection also includes
material from: The Ida Rust Macpherson Collection on women in the westward
movement; the Jane Addams Memorial Collection, U. of Illinois' Chicago Circle,
on women in the Midwest and in social reform movements; The Miriam Y. Holden
and Galatea Collections on Medieval and European women; and supplementary
materials from the New York Public Library, the Widener Library at Harvard,

Campus Defense Council (FSU) 1940-1944. Collection includes
correspondence, publications and working files.
Marion Jewell Hay (1900-1986) papers. Hay was Professor of Education
at FSU 1929-1967 and a local businesswoman.
Dorothy Lois Reeves Breen Britsch Hoffman (1903-1985) papers.
Hoffman was Professor of Modern Languages at FSU from 1927-1974.
Lucy M. Johnson papers in Jewell Family papers. Johnson was
the sister of Marion Hay (above) but lived on the West coast and was a consumer
activist. Collection includes diaries and correspondence.
Beth Moor (1897-1986) papers. Moor was a founder of the Tallahassee
Garden Club, a charter member of the Board of Trustees of the FSU Foundation
and served in many elected positions in the FSU Alumni Association.
Ella Scoble Opperman (1873-1969) papers. Opperman was Dean of
the FSU School of Music 1920-1944.
Tallahassee Literary Club papers (1899-1997) Papers of a local
women's club.
