FSU COLLEGE OF MEDICINE GETS HELP TO AID GADSDEN COUNTY CHILDREN
Dance Marathon at Florida State University and Children’s Miracle Network at Shands Children’s Hospital at the University of Florida will present a check for $197,000 to the FSU College of Medicine for the benefit of Gadsden County school children. (Oct. 15, 2008)
FSU COLLEGE OF EDUCATION TO HOST SYMPOSIUM ON ASSESSMENT
The Florida State University College of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies is hosting a two-day symposium as part of the college’s Dean’s Colloquium Series. The symposium, titled “Assessment for the 21st Century: Insight,” will focus on how to effectively and efficiently integrate appropriate assessment and instruction to improve student learning and education in general. LANDMARK STUDY UNLOCKS STEM CELL, DNA SECRETS TO SPEED THERAPIES
In a groundbreaking study led by an eminent molecular biologist at Florida State University, researchers have discovered that as embryonic stem cells turn into different cell types, there are dramatic corresponding changes to the order in which DNA is replicated and reorganized. (Oct. 13, 2008)
NEW PSYCHOLOGY BUILDING TO ADVANCE DEPARTMENT’S RESEARCH GOALS
One of Florida State University’s oldest academic departments today celebrated the grand opening of the university’s newest building. — Members of the psychology department are reveling in the opportunities that its new $56 million building will afford them in terms of teaching, researching and collaborating with colleagues. Constructed in two phases, the July completion of the 103,000-square-foot building marks the first time in decades that the faculty has been under one roof. (Oct. 10, 2008)
