The Florida Highway Patrol Opinion Survey

The Florida Highway Patrol Opinion Survey was conducted in February and March of 1999.  A survey instrument was mailed to a random sample drawn from the Division of Driver License files.  Respondents were asked to complete the instrument and return it to FSU for processing and analysis by the Survey Research Laboratory.  A total of 1,162 instruments were returned and processed.  The survey asked Florida drivers to rate the level of professionalism of the Highway Patrol and to list safety concerns.  The Patrol scored well on the measures of professionalism.  The safety issues most often identified as needing additional emphasis by the Patrol were Aggressive Driving/Road Rage, Driving Under the Influence, and Speeding.
