 Steven McDonald, M.S.

Senior Statistical Analyst

Steve received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in sociology from Florida State University and is currently finishing his doctoral degree.  Throughout his tenure at the SRL, Steve has worked on more than 40 different telephone, mail, and Internet surveys.  Most of his time has been spent as the primary statistician for the lab, though he also served as the interim director of the lab from May to December in 2000.  He has a great deal of experience in all types of survey methods, field work, and data analysis.  He specializes in quantitative analysis, sampling strategies, and programming in WinCati as well as statistical programs such as SPSS, STATA, and SAS.  Research from Steve's Master's Paper, "How Whites Explain Black and Hispanic Inequality" --which examines data from the FAPS survey--has been published in Public Opinion Quarterly and won the Best Graduate Student Paper Award from the Southern Association for Public Opinion Research and FSU's Sociology Department.
