COTTISH COLLECTION

The works in the Scottish Collection relate to the Highlands and Islands of Western Scotland. The original collection was given in memory of John Mackay Shaw's parents and provides materials for research on the Scottish heritage and its influence in north Florida. Significant works in the collection include Robert Burns' Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect (Kilmarnock, 1786); and a four-volume set given to the library by the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, The Baronial and Ecclesiastical Antiquities of Scotland written and illustrated by Robert William Billings and published for the author by William Blackwood and Sons, 1845-52. The entire collection has been cataloged and may be searched through the FSU online catalog. The Shaw Collection which is also part of Special Collections, houses works by the poet Robert Burns, a large collection of Scottish ballads, and works by other well-known Scottish authors.
