Description:
Background Files. Arranged alphabetically. 1968-1991. Includes background information such as biographical data, black history, census figures, land sales, and Leon County archaeological surveys. Several local places such as Tallahassee, Lake Jackson, Monticello, and St. Marks are also covered. The majority of the items are dated in the 1970s and 1980s.

Correspondence. Arranged alphabetically. 1969-1992. This series includes general correspondence, miscellaneous letters, and correspondence regarding permissions. Among the organizations included are the Alabama Press, Barbour Video, Florida Historical Society, Ohio Historical Society, Southern Life Insurance and Trust, Tall Timbers, The Tallahassee Democrat, and the University of Alabama Press.

Interviews. Arranged alphabetically. 1969-1994. Includes interviews with Clara Bowen, Jim Cooper, Jack Gregory, Grady C. Cromartie, Cliff Paisley (by Robin Sellers) and William A. Register.

Notes. Arranged alphabetically. 1820s-1992. Includes all of the notes that Clifton Paisley collected in preparation for the monograph. A great many of these items are chapter notes from the work, most of which are dated in the 1970s and 1980s. Also included are court records and deeds from local counties such as Leon, Jackson, Jefferson, and Madison. A large part of this series are newspapers dating from the 1820s to the 1860s. Also included are notes from Paisley's other work, From Cotton to Quail, as well as general notes on people, places, and events.

Publication Materials. Arranged alphabetically. 1984-1989. Includes camera ready copies, galley proofs, and manuscripts including an early one, an original, and various pre- and post-reductions. Also included is a manuscript of Cotton to Quail.

Other Printed Materials. Arranged alphabetically. 1850-1968. The majority of this series is comprised of maps, many of which are not dated. Regions covered include the Apalachicola National Forest, Florida, Jackson County, Leon County, Madison County, Jefferson County, Franklin County, Washington County, parks, plantations, Tallahassee, Miccosukee, and Lake Miccosukee. Topographic maps and aerial photographs are included as well as boundary and thematic maps. Also included in this series is one speech by Sam Proctor given in 1968.

Non-Print Materials. Arranged alphabetically. 1980-1989. Includes book covers, archaeology photos, general photos, photos of the Ocala National Forest, and negatives of Old Spanish Armor.

Oversized Materials. Arranged alphabetically. Mostly not dated. Includes camera ready copies of maps for Gadsden, Jackson, and Madison Counties as well as other maps and photos. Also included are an 1883 map of Leon County, a satellite photo of the Red Hills area, a Statistical, Geographical, Historical map of Florida and maps of the Southern Part of the United States of America.
