1. Personal Papers. Holograph notes, correspondence, copies of records
of the Tallahassee Historical Society, photocopies of historic monuments,
typescripts of manuscripts published in various issues of "Tallahassee
Historical Society Annual," lists of names of officials and members
of the Society, newspaper clippings. 70 items.
2. Papers pertaining to the "Site of Tallahassee as the Seat of the
Territory of Florida." 18 items.
3. Gloss picture, "City Commissioners - Past and Present - February
24, 1950." 1950. 1 item.
4. Judge James B. Whitfield Papers. 1885, 1930-1943. Papers by and about
Judge Whitfield including items on his retirement and newspaper clippings,
as well as a document dated 1885, "Florida State Government: An Official
Directory." 8 items.
5. "Correspondence leading to the identification of the first negro
admitted to practice law in Florida," and two articles relating to
Florida negro legislators in 1885. 1944-1958. 23 items.
6. "Memoirs of a Doomed and Forgotten City." A number of articles
from the Saint Joe Times bound together under this title. Also included
is a letter by M.N. Yancey to Mr. Guyte McCord. 2 items.
7. Articles. Copies of articles relating to the "Apalachee District,"
Columbia County, Fort St. Marks, as well as Florida pamphlets and a "Historical
Map of Florida." 11 items.
8. Miscellaneous publications. Items include official programs of inaugurations
of Florida governors Farris Bryant, Millard F. Caldwell, LeRoy Collins,
Spessard Holland, and Dan McCarty. Also included are Presbyterian Church
Bulletins and programs, Florida newspapers dating from 1919 to 1960. 94
