KELMSCOTT PRESS

Geoffrey Chaucer. The Works of Geoffrey Chaucer. Hammersmith: Kelmscott Press, 1896. In full pigskin binding. 1 of 425 paper copies.

Special Collections is fortunate to own a complete set of the 53 titles issued by the Kelmscott Press. William Morris published the Kelmscott volumes between 1891 and 1898. The collection was donated by Howard Storrs, Editor-Publisher of The Defuniak Herald Breeze, who presented the collection to Florida State University as a series of gifts from 1966-1970. Most of the volumes are bound in vellum, with the exception of The Works of Chaucer, bound in three-quarter oak covers with the spine in pig skin.
