The Florida Collection is a selective collection of books and periodicals by Florida authors and about Florida topics. Subjects covered include local history, guidebooks, business, politics, Indians, archaeology, and the environment. Two of the more unusual holdings include Narrative of a voyage to the Spanish Main in the ship Two Friends and Soldiers of Florida in the Seminole Indian, Civil and Spanish-American Wars. The Narrative, published in London in 1819, includes a description of the occupation of Amelia Island by M'Gregor, sketches of the province of East Florida, and anecdotes illustrative of the habits and manners of the Seminole Indians. The Soldiers of Florida was published under the supervision of the Board of State Institutions in Live Oak, Florida circa 1903.
