Frances Elizabeth Brown Douglass Memoirs
Scope and Content:
This collection is comprised of photocopies of the memoirs of Frances
Elizabeth Brown Douglass, daughter of Governor Thomas Brown of Florida.
On the first page of the photocopy of the memoirs appears the following
note:
MEMOIRS OF FRANCES ELIZABETH BROWN
DOUGLASS
These memoirs of Frances Elizabeth Brown Douglass, wife of Samuel James
Douglass and daughter of Thomas Brown, were written at the request of her
family. She began these writings in 1894 when she was about 77 years old,
and passed away in 1905 at the age of 87.
This copy is contributed to the Florida State University Library by Mrs.
Sarah Everett Lewis Henderson, 441 McDaniel Street, Tallahassee, Florida,
grand-daughter of Frances Elizabeth Brown Douglass, in appreciation of
the interest shown by Bertram H. Groene.
