AMs, (UNSIGNED) Robert Burns (1759-1796). "On Reading in a Newspaper an account of the death of J. M'L. Esq. brother to Miss Isabella M'---a particular friend of the Author's; & whose Family had for some time suffered a train of misfortunes."

Scope and Content:
The Esty manuscript of the elegy for Isabella M'Leod's brother, and the only manuscript text to include the qualification "& whose Family had for some time suffered a train of misfortunes." The manuscript is collated by James Kinsley in his three-volume edition of the Songs and Poems of Robert Burns (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1968, no 162; cf. also notes, III, 1241. Twenty-eight lines, seven stanzas, two pages on the recto and verso of one quarto leaf.
