Wins elite L'Oreal 'Women in Science' fellowship
Florida State sprinter Walter Dix has qualified for both the 100m and 200m at the XXIX Summer Games in Beijing, and former Seminole Rafeeq Curry has punched his ticket in the triple jump.
After qualifying for the Olympics in the 100m by finishing second, Dix (Coral Springs, Fla.) won the 200m race with a season-best time of 19.86. It is the second-fastest time in the world this year, just behind the 19.83 turned in by Usain Bolt, and set the Hayward Track record.Known genetic risk for Alzheimer's in whites also places blacks at risk, FSU research finds
