Graduate

The sports industry has undergone tremendous changes in recent years. It is a field that now offers a wide variety of opportunities in everything from professional teams to private athletic clubs. In Florida alone there are a total of nine major professional sports organizations in addition to numerous minor league teams. Florida is also home to, among other things, the majority of Major League Baseball's spring training camps and over 7,700 golfing facilities. This all adds up to an approximately $16 billion a year impact on the state. Along with this kind of growth has come a demand for managers with a well rounded background that includes an emphasis on personnel, facilities, and fiscal management. The sport management industry has become an increasingly attractive field for young professionals and is extremely competitive, but a degree in sports administration is widely recognized by industry executives and gives applicants a significant advantage.

Florida State University offers degrees in Sport Administration at the masters and doctoral level. Both thesis and non-thesis options are available at the masters level. Those interested in applying can proceed to the online application provided by the University.

On-campus recreational facilities are located primarily in the Bobby E. Leach Recreation Center and the adjoining Tully Gymnasium. The center offers basketball, racquetball and squash courts; a swimming complex; indoor jogging/walking track; whirlpools; and state-of-the-art weight training and fitness equipment. The University's 18-hole golf course of medium difficulty is located nearby. Lake Bradford is the site of a major recreational facility owned by the University where activities include swimming, picnicking, volleyball, water skiing, sailing and canoeing on a chain of lakes. As a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), FSU offers excellent spectator sports.
