Program Awards
The FSU sport management faculty offers the following awards and honors as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering the highest level of scholarship possible in our program:
Sport Management Student
Each year 3 students from our programs (one each from Undergraduate, Masters, and Doctoral) will be awarded a $300 scholarship to recognize their academic and professional achievements, as well as their commitment to both sport in the community and the field of sport management.
Bill Jackson Memorial Scholarship
The Seminole Club of Clay County has presented the FSU Sport Management Program with a student scholarship named the Bill Jackson Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will honor Bill's memory by enhancing the Sport Management Program's ability to provide scholarship support. Bill Jackson was deeply committed to his community (he served as President of the Seminole Club of Clay County), his Alma Mater and the Seminole sports teams. The scholarship will be awarded beginning Spring, 2006. NASSM Research Award Matching
Each year the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) sponsors a student research paper competition. The winner of this competition receives a plaque, a one-year NASSM membership, the opportunity to present their research at the President's Luncheon at the annual conference, plus a cash award. NASSM also honors the first three runners-up in the competition with a special presentation session at the conference. This is the most prestigious competitive award available for students in our field, and our faculty believes that this is a worthwhile pursuit. We therefore offer a match (up to $500) of the NASSM award to any of our students who win this competition, as well as a cash award to defray travel costs for those who place in the top four.
