Graduate Financial Assistance
Students pursuing a Master's of Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Services Administration can expect to spend from one to two years in the graduate program. Graduate students support themselves from a variety of sources including personal savings, part-time work, student loans, and assistance by other family members. Also, a limited number of graduate fellowships, assistantships and scholarships are available from the university and from the Recreation and Leisure Services Administration program.
Students should begin the process of seeking financial assistance at least 1-year prior to the date they wish to begin the graduate program. To be eligible for assistantships, fellowships, and scholarships, students must be fully admitted to Graduate Studies at Florida State University and to the graduate program of Recreation and Leisure Services Administration. Fellowship and assistantship programs require GRE scores and the GRE test should be taken far enough in advance so that scores will be available prior to the application deadline. Also, graduate students need to complete a specific application for each award they seek.
- Assistantships. Graduate assistantships are awarded on a semester-by-semester basis and provide a stipend and a partial tuition wavier for both in-state and out-of-state fees. Students serving as graduate assistants are assigned to one or more faculty members in the program to assist with duties related to undergraduate teaching, research, and public service. Availability of an assistantship should be discussed with the Graduate Coordinator. click here for Graduate assistantship application
