PET 5718 - Interdisciplinary Teaching
Internet Course Description
The purpose of this course is to provide an in-depth study of the fundamentals of interdisciplinary programs. The course will focus on three interdisciplinary teaching models-connected, shared, and partnership-that can be used as guides for organizing content, collaborating with others, and creating meaningful activities that impact student learning. The course will also explore strategies for implementation, including ideas for getting started, selecting a teaching model, developing lesson plans, assessing interdisciplinary learning using alternative strategies, and building a support network. Students will have opportunities to learn how to integrate physical education with five subject areas as they integrate the concepts in their “real-world” classrooms. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to read relevant research and participate in a wide range of discussions on the class discussion board.
