Overview
The Master of Science in Physical Education program is designed for K-12 physical education teachers who wish to expand and/or update their knowledge of physical education content and teaching skills. It is appropriate for individuals who are certified in physical education and who have been teaching physical education in a school environment. The MS degree program is designed for both elementary and secondary teachers.
Graduates of distance learning programs at Florida State University receive the same diploma and transcripts as students who graduate from traditional on-campus programs. Official transcripts do not differentiate on-line from traditional on-campus courses or degrees. Graduates are welcome to participate in commencement ceremonies.
Admissions
Admission requirements for the Master's degree are:
- a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university with certification in physical education or another certification area,
- an upper division cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
OR - a minimum score of 1000 on the combined Verbal and Quantitative portions of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
- Even though a candidate may be admitted based on a GPA of 3.5, the university REQUIRES all students to have a GRE score on file - All candidates must take the GRE and submit score.
- A minimum of 550 TOFEL or graduate of an English speaking institution.

Applicants must apply to Florida State University. Applicants will need to apply for the Physical Education Program. The graduate application is available at: https://admissions.fsu.edu/gradapp
In addition to submitting an application, applicants must provide the following:
- Three letters of recommendation addressing capabilities for graduate study;
- A letter of intent which describes your experience as it relates to K-12 teaching, short and long term goals, career aspirations, and why you chose to apply to Florida State University.
- Official transcript(s) from all previously attended colleges and/or universities.
- GRE Scores- All candidates must take the GRE and submit score.
- A resume.
Admissions credentials are reviewed by program faculty for final decision on admission.

The program is a minimum of 33 semester hours. All coursework is available on-line. Two required courses are offered each fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Technology Requirements
Students will be required to obtain an FSU/ACNS e-mail account in order to access the course website. In order to complete class requirements, class participants will need to be able to:
- Access the Internet,
- Download and upload Word documents,
- Download, view, and listen to PowerPoint documents,
- Download PDF files,
- Access to VHS or digital camcorder for lesson recording,
- Access to equipment for digitizing video clips from lessons,
- Utilize Real Player or Windows Media to download, view, and listen to digitized videotapes, and
- Send and receive e-mails.

Additional Requirements
Candidates who are not presently teaching will need access to a physical education class, elementary or secondary, for completing program assignments.
Costs
The courses in this program have been developed and delivered by full-time faculty or by adjuncts who have repeatedly taught courses in the physical education program. Distance learning students, therefore, have the same high quality instruction as students on the main campus, plus special assistance from Academic & Professional Program Services to insure success. The University Board of Trustees establishes tuition and fees. Distance learning students are expected to pay tuition and other associated fees. Financial Aid & Fee Waiver
Due to a policy change, the Out-of-State Tuition Waiver will no longer be offered. Financial aid is available for students who are enrolled in at least six semester hours of coursework each semester.
