Mission

The mission of the Department of Sport and Recreation Management is to prepare teachers, coaches, administrators, and scholars to serve schools, colleges, education, and educators in the broadest sense. As such, the department's teacher education program is one of 36 programs preparing teachers under the direction of the College of Education. Among the College's mission are such things as: offering pedagogical instruction and coordination of clinical supervision, improvement of educational practice growing out of research, development, and policy analysis, preparation of educational administrators and other leadership personnel, and coordinating in-service programs for teachers and administrators.

The Department of Sport and Recreation Management is active in all of these areas as it works with and through the College of Education to provide support in the accomplishment of their complementary missions.
