Research Interests
I have a number of different research interests. First, I have studied extensively in the area of character development in sport. Specifically, I have focused on measuring the moral and social character of college athletes. Second, I have conducted research on the character development of secondary education students. As part of this research line, I developed an instrument to measure the moral character of middle school and high students. Third, I have methodological interests in the areas of instrument development, research design, and mixed-methodology. I have published my research in the Journal of Research in Character Education, the Journal of Physical Education, Recreation, & Dance, The Physical Educator, Strategies, The Sport Journal, and the American Journal of Evaluation.
Teaching Areas
Here at The Florida State University I teach courses in sport ethics, sport history, and sport sociology. Prior to coming to FSU I taught courses in educational research, assessment and action research, and program evaluation.
Outside of Academe
I greatly enjoy spending time with my three children. I am also an avid runner and love going fly fishing.
