What is Student Legal Services?
Student Legal Services is a Student Government-funded bureau established in 1974 to provide preventative legal advice for all FSU students. Each student is allowed a thirty-minute legal consultations free of charge with a local attorney. Any representation or other legal services beyond the free legal consultation is at the student's own expense. All legal services are provided by members in good standing from the Tallahassee Bar and Florida Bar.
How can Student Legal Services help you?
1. Come into the Student Legal Services Office in the Oglesby Union A225 and meet with Director Dave Tell djt04@fsu.edu or Assistant Director Carlos Lindo cal05@fsu.edu to discuss your issue of concern. While appointments are not necessary, they are highly recommended due to heavy traffic volume. Or write us an email at: sls@admin.fsu.edu.
2. If necessary, we will refer you to an attorney to help resolve your issue. After filling out a minimal amount of paperwork, you will receive a referral sheet that you MUST take with you to the appointment so that the attorney can bill our office for your consultation.
3. If deemed necessary, you will receive a free 30-minute consultation with the attorney.
