COGS works to improve graduate life at FSU in many ways.  COGS distributes hundreds of Presentation Grants, Academic Conference Support Grants, and Ph.D. Research Grants (in cooperation with the Office of Graduate Studies) annually, to support promotion of FSU graduate studies and research around the globe.About COGS

Grantsmanship Seminar

Two Grantsmanship workshops will be held in the Fall Semester and two will be held in the Spring Semester. The workshops will be presented by Dr. Evelyn Ploumis-Devick, a nationally known expert. You will learn how to write proposals and search for grants. Free to all students. Call the COGS office for dates (644-7166).

Dissertation Research Grant

In cooperation with the Dean of Graduate Studies (408 Westcott; 644-3500) COGS makes available up to $500.00 to assist in the cost of research related to your dissertation.  Matching funds are provided by the Provost and the Vice President for Research. Conference Presentation Grant

COGS awards grants of $100 to $500 for travel to academic conferences at which a graduate student is making a presentation.  Application forms may be picked up in the COGS office (245 SLB) or may be obtained by clicking Conference Presentation Grant Application and Policies rev101507.  The application must be submitted at least two weeks before travel commences.  Funds are limited so the application should be filed soon after receipt of acceptance.  Limited to two travel grants per fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th).  

Academic Conference Support Grant

COGS awards grants of $100.00 to attend academic conferences.  Application forms are available in the COGS office (or may be obtained by clicking Academic Conference Support Grant Application and Policies rev101707 ) and must be accompanied by a summary of the conference program.  The application must be submitted two weeks before travel and are limited to two grants per fiscal year.

Organization Grant

COGS provides $200.00 for duly registered graduate student organizations.  Applications are available in the COGS office.  Organizations may also request additional funding from the Assembly for special projects or additional needs.
