Middle School Mentoring Program
(also known as the Governor’s Mentoring Initiative)

The [Governor’s Mentoring Initiative] trains college students as mentors to provide academic support to middle school students across the state. The program uses curriculum, specifically developed for the new mentoring program that emphasizes activities reinforcing that higher education is attainable.

-Presidents’ Focus on Achievement Mentoring Guide

“It is vitally important to reach students as early as possible and with the combined efforts of the state universities, Florida Campus Compact, and Volunteer Florida Foundation, this program will ensure that underrepresented students are aware that higher education is an attainable goal.”

-Former Lt. Governor Frank Brogan, State of Florida President, Florida Atlantic University
