Brick Awards

Each year, Do Something honors 10 outstanding leaders under the age of 30 who use their talents to take action that measurably strengthens their local communities. The national grand prize winner receives a grant of $100,000 and the nine other winners each receive a grant of $10,000. Check out Do Something online.

Minority Leaders Fellowship Program

The MLFP program is a nationally competitive academic program that enables students of color to explore issues of leadership and diversity, develop professional skills, and investigate various aspects of governance and citizenship in both theory and practice for academic credit. This is achieved through participation in The Washington Center's internship program. Students are nominated by their college president and selected through a week-long reading process. President Service Award

Sponsored by the Corporation for National Service and the Points of Light Foundation, these awards honor the efforts of extraordinary individuals, families, groups, organizations, businesses, and labor unions engaged in voluntary community service addressing unmet human, education, environmental, and public safety needs. The Fund for Theological Education, Inc.

The Fund for Theological Education, Inc. exists to promote excellence in the profession of ministry by inspiring, recruiting and supporting women and men from diverse racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds. Through its fellowship programs, it supports persons who embody the highest intellectual and spiritual qualities essential for contemporary ministry. The mission of FTE is to respond to the continuing need for outstanding persons for Christian leadership as pastors, educators and citizens. Nonprofit Leaders Program - The Washington Center

This program provides a unique opportunity to "do good" and learn about exciting career opportunities in the non-profit sector. The nonprofit sector includes: charitable, educational, and scientific organizations; professional societies; and trade and business groups. Interning within the nonprofit sector provides a unique opportunity to explore your chosen career field while working with an organization that has a conscience. Hearst Minority Fellowship- Indiana University Center on Philanthropy

The Hearst Minority Fellowship is designed to provide members of minority groups the opportunity to engage in the study and practical application of philanthropy, while in pursuit of the M.A. in Philanthropic Studies or M.P.A. in Nonprofit Management degree. Coro Fellowship

The Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs is for college seniors, interns, graduate students and other individuals who are committed to improving this nation's system of democratic self-governance and want to take the next crucial step in their career. The program provides Fellows with a unique opportunity to develop an understanding of public affairs and decision-making through hands-on exposure to individuals and institutions that influence life in five major urban areas. The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award

This award provides an annual stipend of $10,000 for a graduating senior to pursue public service anywhere in the world. The award allows recipients to engage in meaningful public service activity for up to one year before proceeding on to graduate school or a career. YP4 Fellowship

The Young People For Fellowship is open to freshmen, sophomores and juniors who are motivated, young and progressive leaders and are eager to work toward social change in their campuses and communities. You must be from Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas or Washington, DC and demonstrate high leadership capabilities to be eligible for this award. Ruth Stanton Community Grant

The Ruth Stanton Community Grant is available to students who are active in community service. You must answer the three essay questions listed on the sponsor's Web site in 100 words or less and include one letter of recommendation from a non-family member to be eligible for this award. Students Serve Grant

The Student Serve Grant Students Serve provides service-learning grants to innovative college students across the country. Through self-designed projects, you are able to apply the academic knowledge that you are acquiring in school to solve problems in your communities. Make a Statement Scholarship Contest

The Make a Statement Scholarship is available to females who are 18 years of age or older. You must also have a minimum 3.0 GPA to be eligible for this award. Submit an application and answer the following question: "Each new day that passes brings new opportunities for change. Do Something Plum Grant

The Do Something Plum Grant is available to students, age 25 or under, who are social entrepreneurs. You must have recently created a sustainable project, program or organization. A. Patrick Charnon Memorial Scholarship

The A. Patrick Charnon Scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate students who have been accepted to or who are currently enrolled in a four-year college or university. Students who value tolerance, compassion and respect for all people in their communities, and who have demonstrate their commitments to theses values by their actions will be considered for this award. In addition to an official transcript and three letters of recommendation, you must submit a typed 2-4 page essay on how community service experiences have shaped your life and how you will use your college education to build communities in a manner consistent with Pat Charnon's values of compassion, tolerance, generosity and respect. GameStop Youth Grant

Do Something and GameStop are putting the fun back in funding by giving you the big bucks ($500) to get things going in your neighborhood. GameStop youth grants are available for anyone in the U.S. or Canada, 25 or under (at time of application), who has a great idea for a community action project. We could fund your bright idea! The President's Volunteer Service Award

Administered on behalf of The White House, more than 1.3 million Presidential Volunteer Service Awards will be conferred to honor various levels of service over the next three-years. Any individual or family in America that has made a sustained commitment to volunteer service during the course of a one-year time period are eligible. Daily Point of Light Award

The Daily Point of Light Award honors individuals and volunteer groups that have made a commitment to connect Americans through service to help meet critical needs in their communities. Each weekday, one volunteer or volunteer effort in the country receives a Daily Point of Light Award. Excellence in Service Awards

The Excellence In Service Award of $1000 is given annually to three student volunteers for outstanding service to Florida's communities. Check out the web site at, www.floridacompact.org/~floridac/programs/eisawards.html.

The J. W. Memorial Prize for Public Service

A prize of two thousand dollars will be awarded to one or more college or university students involved in public service. The award is meant to enable the student to gain practical experience in public service by taking a no-pay or low-pay job or internship during a summer or other term. "Change the World!" Scholarship

The "Change the World!" Scholarship is available to students who have an idea of how to change the world. You must answer the questions listed on the sponsor's website in under 250 words per question. "What would you do if you weren't afraid?" "How are you going to change the world?" GlobalGiving FilmFest Scholarship

The GlobalGiving FilmFest Scholarship is open to students who are interested in being a part of global change at a local level and desire to bring to life the story of a high-impact grassroots project. To be eligible for this award, you must be at least 14 years of age and submit a project idea in a video, animation or "mash-up" that either tells the story of a project (or projects) on GlobalGiving, or focuses on why you give to a project (or projects). Ronald Reagan Future Leaders Program

The Ronald Reagan Future Leaders Program is open to students who demonstrate leadership on behalf of the cause of freedom, American values and constitutional principles. This program recognizes outstanding young leaders on campus and in the community who are making significant, positive differences to promote American values on their college campus. To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen and be enrolled full-time and in good standing at any accredited, four-year degree-granting institution in the United States or its territories. An essay describing your background, educational and career objectives, leadership and achievements, among other criteria, will be required. Global Solutions Flash Movie Contest

The Global Solutions Flash Movie Contest is available to students, budding artists, multi-media designers and activists who are interested in making flash videos. The top contenders will be published on the sponsor's website and the top three entries will get cash. Your movie should inspire, amuse and activate people out there who believe a better world is possible. This scholarship contest is open to all majors, though those working towards degrees in the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: international relations, environmental studies, political science, philosophy, multi-media design and art. One Year Fellowships in DC

The Wellstone Fellowship for Social Justice aims to advance social justice through health care advocacy by focusing particularly on the unique challenges facing communities of color. Through this fellowship, established to honor the memory of the late Senator Paul D. Wellstone, we hope to expand the pool of talented social justice advocates from underrepresented economic, racial and ethnic minority groups.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate an interest in health care policy and racial/ethnic health disparities. Additionally, they are looking for an individual who displays the potential to contribute to social justice work after their year of hands-on experience as a fellow. Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service - Summer

IPVS is ideal for undergraduate student leaders who are engaged in service programs on and off their campuses. All majors and fields of study are welcome. With a single application, students are enrolled at Georgetown University, live in a furnished apartment on campus in the heart of DC, and are placed in a competitive internship for eight weeks.

As part of the Institute experience, students attend exclusive events and participate in hands-on activities including developing a mission statement, planning service projects and organizing fundraising activities. AES Engineers Scholarship

The AES Engineers Scholarship is available to students who are future leaders. You must demonstrate character, personal merit, commitment, leadership in school, civic and extracurricular activities, academic achievement and motivation to serve and succeed to be eligible for this award. Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Awards

The Office of National Fellowships is pleased to announce the Summer 2008 Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Awards. Students who apply with a supervising professor could be awarded $4000 to carry out a research OR creative activity project of their own design this summer! The award can be used for living expenses, materials, and/or travel. This is a wonderful opportunity for students engage in funded research or creative work while working closely with a faculty member. Rosenbloom Scholarship 2007-2008

The Ben Rosenbloom Memorial Service Scholarship is designed to recognize students with an outstanding record of service and a commitment to a lifetime of service. Any rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student who will be returning to FSU for the 2008-2009 academic year with a minimum 2.0 GPA is eligible to apply. The scholarship is valued at $1,000. A scholarship winner may reapply each year. Applications are available online here http://serve2learn.fsu.edu/opp/sch_awards/rosenbloom/index.htm. Before you head out of town for Spring break, be sure to submit your application to the Center.
