Dr. Wendy Sapp will join the FSU faculty as an assistance professor in August, 2003 after completing her Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University. Ms Sapp is currently working as coordinator of an FSU satellite program in Georgia to train teachers of students with visual impairments. Ms. Sapp has published two articles in peer reviewed journals and a book chapter. She began working as a teacher of students with visual impairments in 1995. Since 1996 she has worked for the Whitfield County Board of Education in Dalton, Georgia, where she was named the Teacher of the Year in 1997. Other awards with which Ms. Sapp has been honored include the Anne Sullivan Award, from the Georgia Lions Club (1999), and the Academic Achievement Award from Vanderbilt University (1999-2001). She was named a Josephine L. Taylor Leadership Fellow in 2001. She currently serves as President of the Georgia Chapter of the Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired, and she has just been elected to the board of the Division on Visual Impairments of the Council for Exceptional Children.
