Dr. Stephanie Al Otaiba received her Ph.D. in Human Development from Vanderbilt University specializing in special education and early literacy. She worked as a project coordinator and Research Assistant on field-initiated grants with Dr. Douglas Fuchs, directed an OSEP student-initiated grant, and received two national awards for papers generated through this line of research. She coordinated the Peabody Reading and Math Clinic from 2000-2001 as an Assistant Research Professor. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Florida State University and is a Faculty Associate of the Florida Center of Reading Research. She publishes in peer-reviewed journals, and presents at national, state, and local conferences. She has 14 years of experience teaching preschool and kindergarten with diverse populations and her research interests include early intervention to prevent reading difficulties, teacher preparation and professional development, and cultural and linguistic diversity.
