Catherine O'Farrell is currently an instructor and the Director of the Assistive Technology Center (ATC) at Florida State University. She also designed and supervised construction of the ATC and is currently assisting in the design of the new Activities of Daily Living Lab. Before coming to Florida she was the Program Manager for the federally funded Title 7, Chapter 2, Older Blind Program for the State of Wyoming. She designed and implemented a statewide, mobile low vision clinic and assistive technology demonstration in Wyoming.

Ms. O'Farrell has provided in-service and instruction to public, private and non-profit organizations. She has worked for non-profit agencies in Wyoming, Florida and Georgia as a Rehabilitation Teacher, Orientation and Mobility Specialist, and Assistive Technology Instructor. Ms. O'Farrell has provided instruction, to deaf-blind, blind, and visually impaired adults and children in the areas of orientation and mobility, daily living, assistive technology, career development, self-advocacy, and implemented and facilitated support groups for older adults.

She organized and managed Southeastern Orientation and Mobility Association conference in Orlando, Florida. She has also designed curricula and instructional competencies for Florida Department of Blind Services (DBS) Independent Living Adult Program (ILAP) staff and provided Principles and Practices instruction for the ILAP staff. Ms. O'Farrell also worked as an optician for 10 years. She is also a member of the Association of Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired and American Foundation for the Blind, National Agenda on Vision and Aging.
