2nd BOMB WING- Blue and yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The bombs descending symbolize the wing's mission and also denotes the number of squadrons within the wing at the time of its organization. The five sections of the upper section of the shield indicate the five World War I campaigns in which the unit participated and the fleur-de-lis represents France where these battles were fought. Motto: libertatem defendimus (defenders of liberty.)
