Betty
Phifer Award
David
Trautman received the annual Betty Phifer Award given to a graduating
religion major who exhibits both academic excellence and exceptional
service to the community. Among other activities, David has been
active as a volunteer and coordinator of a mobile food ministry
to the poor living in and around the Frenchtown neighborhood of
Tallahassee.
Outstanding
Religion Major
Adam
Coogle received the outstanding religion major of 2006 award for
his superb academic achievements. These include the2006 Marion
Jewell Hay Award Recipient (Top Graduating Senior from Phi Beta
Kappa) as well as membership in several other honors societies.
Adam graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade point average and wrote
an honors thesis in religion “Verses of Fighting in the
Qur’an” (translation of selected passages from Arabic,
and discussion of selected commentators’ remarks on the
passages). He has received a Fullbright Award to pursue further
study of Arabic in Jordan for 2006-2007.
