Graduate Student Participation in 2007 Regional Meetings

Congratulations to Shannon Dunn for winning the Best Graduate Paper Award of the Annual Meeting for the Southeastern Commission for the Study of Religion! This award marks the third time FSU graduate students have won in the last six years! Previous winners include:

In total, eight graduate students from Florida State University's Department of Religion participated in the Annual Meetings of the Southeastern Commission for the Study of Religion and the Southwest Commission on Religious Studies. Their participation is listed below.

Presented "Post-Holocaust Theology: Heschel's Tradition Responds to Rubenstein's Radical New Theology" in a session of the History of Judaism Group.

Scott Cason

Presented "Narrative Prosthesis and the Disabled Male Body in the Literature of Second Temple Judaism" in a joint session of the Hebrew Scriptures, Old Testament, and History of Judaism Groups.

Shannon Dunn

Presented "Veiled Contradictions: A Critical Examination of Western Feminist Discourse as it Applies to the Foulard Debate" in a session of the Religion, Ethics, and Society Group.

Awarded Best Graduate Student Paper of the Annual Meeting.

Christy Flanagan

Presented "Reconsidering Christian Dualism: Luther, Feuerbach, and Sinnlichkeit" in a session of the Philosophy of Religion and Theology Group.

Kathleen Hladky

Presented "Trinity Broadcasting Network: Media and the Word of Faith Movement" in a session of the African American Religion Group.

Joseph Williams

Presented "The Business of Charismatic Healing" in a session of the American Religion Group.

Shannon Zellars-Strohl

Presented "The Book of Job and its Post Modern Versions" in a joint session of the Arts, Literature, and Religion Group and the American Biblical Hermeneutics Group.
