2006 Research and Teaching Awards


Distinguished Research Award

The Distinguished Research Professor Awards program recognizes a handful of faculty each year who have shown evidence of outstanding scholarly productivity and/or creative activity. These scholars must show evidence of national and international visibility in endeavors that emphasize research and/or creative activities and evidence of honors related to those activities. In 2006, Professor John Kelsay of the Department of Religion received this award.


University Teaching Award

The University Teaching Awards program recognizes faculty for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Recipients must be outstanding in the many aspects of teaching which contribute to successful teaching and learning. This is a student-oriented award with nominations submitted by students and alumni. In 2006, Professor Kathleen Erndl of the Department of Religion received this award.

Outstanding Graduate Assistant Award

The Outstanding Graduate Assistant Awards program recognizes graduate students for excellence in instructional skills, course structure, accessibility, rapport with students, evaluation of learning, scholarship, and professionalism. The winners were selected from among nominations received from students and faculty. In 2006, Kevin Vaccarella of the Department of Religion received this award.
