Areas of interest: Law and economics, criminal justice policy, and property rights/transaction-cost
economics.
Internationally recognized as one of the foremost figures in
the areas of public choice and law and economics, Dr. Benson has
received numerous awards for his scholarly research. His recent
books include The Enterprise of Law (1990), co-author of The
Economic Anatomy of a Drug War (1994), and To Serve and
Protect: Privatization and Community in Criminal Justice (1998). Benson has received the
Professorial Excellence Program Award and the Distinguished Research
Professor Award.
