The Environmental Club is one of the most active student organizations in campus, their membership is open to everyone that loves nature and is willing to lend a hand to clean up the environment. If you are a science major, you can also benefit from their peer-to-peer advising. They have different projects going on that go from recycling and beach Clubs to research trips to Linton Island. Last August 26th upon the invitation of Carlos Vargas I had the opportunity to witness democracy at its best as the Environmental Club celebrated their elections for the term 2004-2005. At noon, Environmental Club members met in the Environmental Club Headquarters (one of the best-kept secrets in FSU-Panama). As an observer I followed directions and went into the auditorium, and then I looked behind the curtains for the door that would lead me to the EC Headquarters. When I got there, voting had already started. After a few minutes, votes were counted and the former president Carlos Vargas announced the following results. Catalina Gomez - Vice-president Viviana Cortes - Treasurer Alessandra Treuherz – Secretary Congrats, to the elected officials and keep up the good work! If you are interested in joining the environmental Club check out their board in the first floor or contact Andre at andre_22@hotmail.com or Carlos at cjv02c@fsu.edu |
