Anon As Anon stated, the relationship of editor to author is very similar to knife to throat. I used to be a writer and a photographer just as my fellow students are now, but I took the position of editor, and all the relationships I’ve had with my friends have been pushed, pulled, and twisted in many different directions, but I have found it a privilege to work with all my friends and it’s been a great learning experience. I hope that we are all able to work together for one more issue under my guidance. Everywhere I go, I’m asked if the universities stifle writers. My opinion is that they don’t stifle enough of them. Flannery O’Connor As writers at the university level, it’s always hard to balance everything. Schoolwork, work, studying for midterms and finals, and on top of everything else, we are students, who have chosen to take on the added burden, of writing articles so that the FSU community both in Panama and in the U.S., can remain in touch. So with this issue, we baptize a new era with the PANANOLE NEWS. We welcome a new beginning, with a transition from faculty to students. I hope that all students, staff, faculty, and individuals realize the work and the effort put into this issue, and enjoy it. There are three rules for writing a novel. Unfortunately, no on knows what they are. W. Somerset Maugham
I’d like to take this last moment, to say a quick farewell to a great professor, Dr. Silvio Sirias. He has unfortunately left our presence to take a year and write a novel. So I offer up Mr. Maugham’s quote to you, and wish you the best on the book you are writing. I as well as all students who have had the luck to have met you, who undoubtedly were touched with your kind words, expansive knowledge, and never ending wit. We miss you Dr. Sirias.
