Frequently, students at FSU Panama have trouble writing for the various classes offered at the university. I have had the pleasure of contemplating the agony brought by the frustration of not knowing what to write about, as well as experiencing firsthand the torture of having a deadline and no words to fill in the white piece of paper in front of me. So you suffer from writer’s block? The word is on the tip of your tongue, but you can’t figure it out? You don’t know the difference between an adjective and an adverb? Luckily, we have a Writing Center in the FSU-Panama Library, for all those lost souls wondering along the deranged world of vowels and consonants. Mr. Ronald Jenkins has been in charge of the Writing Center since the start of the semester, singlehandedly managing all the work. As he puts it, the main objective of the Writing Center is to assist the university community and improve the overall writing skills of the students who attend. For example, if you are aware that you often commit comma splices in your paper, you can ask Mr. Jenkins to help you get rid of your problem through several individual tutoring sessions focused on that specific problem. He is available from Monday to Thurday during most of the day: from 10:30 am to 11:45 am, from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm, and from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Mr. Jenkins and the Pananole News staff invite the students to participate in this service for the FSU community. The Writing Center is a “nice place”, as Mr. Jenkins puts it, where you can sharpen your writing abilities and improve your grades in all classes that require writing. |
