What New Majors Should FSU-Panama Offer?

by Jorge Calvo

As we know, here at FSU-Panama students have the choice of studying here for about two years and acquiring the necessary credits in the Liberal Studies program to transfer to Tallahassee to complete their studies.

But what new majors should this university offer to keep students in Panama? What about people who are either unable or unwilling to transfer?

I polled students about this and received a wide variety of replies. A few expressed the idea that FSU-Panama should offer more classes in other languages (such as French and German), as well as a few majors related to the arts. The majority of those questioned said that they would like FSU-Panama to offer majors in Biology, Business, Psychology and Engineering. Other common suggestions were Sociology, Communications, Political Science, and Law. And a few have commented that there should be more writing classes, particularly in creative writing.

Students hope the administration can begin efforts to bring these fields of study to our campus.

The author wishes to thank all those who expressed their opinion concerning this question.
