The strongest principle of growth lies in human choice. George Eliot (1819 - 1880) With every experience, you alone are painting your own canvas, thought by thought, choice by choice. Oprah Winfrey (1954 - ) Let bravery be thy choice, but not bravado. Menander (342 BC - 292 BC)
For the inaugural issue of The Pananole News we, as editors, provided considerable direction for the stories that were covered. Since then, because the writers immediately caught on to the idea of what types of issues and ideas need to be covered, we have left the choice of stories up to the students. Even the subjects of interviews have been left to the discretion of the interviewers. Thus, what you have before you is entirely a student effort. Our input as editors has been limited to coordinating the effort and making sure that the ideas expressed in the articles are clear and concise. We want The Pananole News to be entertaining for readers as well as a valuable learning experience for those students who choose to join the staff. So far we are pleased with the results. On this issue we’d like to thank the following students for their hard work: Alicia de Leon, Elysia Beech, Eloy Benedetti, Carlos Vargas, Robert Martin, Veronica Maggiori, Xiao Wei, Maribel Ibañez, Jorge Calvo, Melissa Lam, Tomas Garcia, Derek Jaramillo, Ursula Kiener, Robert Martin, and Angie Cruz-Segarra. In addition, our thanks to our most committed participants: Monica Martinez and Carla Pinilla. Once again, we hope you enjoy this issue of The Pananole News. We’ll be back during the summer.
