In our previous issue of the Pananole News we informed our readers of the resignation of the rector Dr. Jeremy Brown. Ever since he left Florida State University-Panama a lot of speculation regarding his current location had been created. Theories ranging from simple ideas, like his return to England, to much larger ones have left us intrigued. When asked about his future plans in his Panaboard interview, Dr. Brown simply answered, “I’m going back to the United States as the Vice-President of a university in the northeast.” However, the main question was still left unanswered: Where exactly did Dr. Brown go? Here, at Pananole News, we have found him! Doctor Jeremy Brown is currently Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Canton, New York. Simply put, a Provost is a university administrator of high ranking. He will be in charge of all academics, as well as leading the University in the President’s absence. SUNY Canton is located in the village of Canton, New York. With a population of 5,822, Canton is located at about a three hours drive from New York City and a two-hour drive from the Canadian cities of Montreal and Ottawa. The university has two-year and four-year degree programs, and is renowned for its technology program. The four main Bachelors degrees offered at SUNY Canton are Criminal Investigation, Health Service Management, Information Technology and Technology Management. The student enrollment is approximately 2,500 students. Dr. Brown has arrived to the College during a period of transition. He will be in charge of coordinating and supervising the development of new academic programs for the College. The knowledge he acquired in FSU-Panama should be of help in this endeavor at SUNY Canton. About the situation with the current vacant position for rector, Dr. Langoni tells us that there are no new developments. Stay alert. We’ll keep you posted. |
