Graduation Procedures

  1. Students should submit to the Museum Studies office a Request for Completion [pdf] form upon completion of program requirements (two core courses, two electives, and a six-credit hour internship) to ensure that the office has all updated information and all program requirements have been completed. This includes a current mailing address so that the Graduation Certificate can be mailed.

Note - It is the student's responsibility to submit this information for proper and timely mailing.

  2. Upon completion of all program requirements, the student's Museum Studies Advisor and Museum Studies Academic Coordinator review the files to ensure that all requirements have been met.

  3. When the student has been approved for graduation from the Museum Studies program, 1) the departmental Museum Studies advisor submits a letter to the Registrar's Office which requests posting of the Museum Studies Certificate onto the student's transcript, and 2) the Museum Studies office mails the Graduation Certificate to the graduating student.

  4. The Museum Studies Certification does not in any way affect graduation from the individual degree program UNLESS the student needs the requirements of the Museum Studies Program to complete her/his specific degree (see department for specific requirements). Students will not receive the Museum Studies certificate until they have fulfilled all requirements for their graduate degree.
