Program Overview | Courses | Internships | Graduation

Graduation Procedures

  1. Students should submit to the Museum Studies office a Request for Completion form [pdf]when all program requirements are completed (two core courses, two electives, and a six-credit hour internship). Generally this is completed in the semester that the student expects to graduate.

Note - It is the student's responsibility to submit the Request for Completion form in a timely manner.

  2. After degrees are posted to transcripts, usually during the first few weeks of the semester following graduation, the Museum Studies Academic Coordinator reviews student files to ensure that all requirements have been met for the certificate. The certification is manually entered on transcripts. Because of degree postings, this can take several weeks before the registrar's office is able to make the post. Students can verify the posting at any time by accessing their unofficial transcripts through Blackboard Secure Apps.

  3. Graduation Certificates are individually printed and signed. Students can expect to receive certificates by the end of the semester following graduation. It is important to make sure the Request for Completion form includes the studen't name as it is to be printed on the certificate and a mailing address that the student is sure will be current 3-4 months after graduation.

  4. The Museum Studies Certification does not in any way affect graduation from the individual degree program UNLESS the student needs the requirements of the Museum Studies Program to complete her/his specific degree (see department for specific requirements). Students will not receive the Museum Studies certificate until they have fulfilled all requirements for their graduate degree.
