Assignment:
Step
1: Select one of the links in the list of Pen
Pal sites below to find lists of potential Spanish-speaking pen pals.
Step
2: From the list provided select people you would like to
contact. You may not hear from each one, so choose six to ten people to
contact.
Note:
If
you are using a public access computer (as in a school computer lab or
library) you will have to copy down the e-mail addresses you want to send
letters to and then use the normal process for accessing/sending your e-mail.
Step
3: E-mail that person. Be sure to tell them who you are and
why you are contacting them (i.e. for a class assignment). You should write
half of each message in English and half in Spanish so that both you and
your pen pal can benefit. Ask them to do the same in their messages to
you. Be sensitive to the person's age if they are not over 18.
Step
4: During the course of the semester you must choose two (2)
of these letters to submit to your instructor for a writing grade. These
letters must have a minimum of twenty (20) sentences in Spanish. (Hint:
It is probably better to not turn in your first two letters. So, get an
early start and exchange several letters before you have to submit one
for a grade.)
Step
5:
When you hear back from someone, tell your instructor so the
whole class can share in the excitement.
