Instructions for using the
Discusión en español message boards

What the Message Board Does:

The Message Board allows participants to create a "threaded discussion" which is visible to everyone who visits that Web page. The reason it is called a "board" is that posting a message to it is like posting an index card on a bulletin board. This is true in a couple of ways: 1) You have to write it first, then post it; 2) Everyone who walks by can read it.
The interaction that develops is called "threaded" because you can reply ("follow up") to a specific message and have your reply posted underneath the original. Likewise, a reply to a reply will appear indented underneath it in a kind of outline format. This is a good way to keep track of who is speaking to whom, but it requires some thought about on what level your message should appear.

How to Post a Message:

At the bottom of the message board you will find a form with blanks labeled "Post A Message!"  The blanks and buttons you will see are explained below. The titles which are underlined are required blanks which must be filled in to post a message.

 Important Final Steps:
  1. After clicking on "Post Message" or "Submit Follow Up" you will see a copy of your posting.
  2. Click on the "Discusión en español" link at the bottom of the page to go back to the message board (or click the green "Back" arrow on your browser) then you will have to hit  "Reload"  to see your message on the board.
  3. If you do not see the title of your message on the message board, click the blue arrow labeled "Reload" on the upper tool bar and look again before reposting your message.
