The Slavic Division of the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics is pleased to announce

The Eastern Europe of My Parents:  Hope and Turmoil, 1913-1996

a public lecture by

Dr. Rado Pribic
Lafayette College
Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures

Monday, October 12
5:00 p.m.
Diffenbaugh 009

Nikola and Elisabeth Pribic came to Florida State University in 1965 from an Eastern Europe marked by national revolutions, social upheavals, and two world wars. While their lives were shaped by turmoil, their lifelong commitment to education led them to found a program in Slavic studies to promote greater understanding of the cultures of Eastern Europe. Dr. Rado Pribic will discuss how personal and world history were intertwined in the lives of his parents, and how their emigration and intellectual journey helped shape our University.

This is the second in a series of Pribic Family Lectures, named in honor of Drs. Elisabeth and Nikola R. Pribic, Professor Emeritus of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Florida State University, and presented by the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics. For more information, please contact Dr. Lisa Ryoko Wakamiya, lwakamiya@fsu.edu.
