Basic Spanish Program

SPN1121 Elementary Spanish II

Welcome to Elementary Spanish II! In this course you will continue to develop basic communicative skills in Spanish and use those skills to expand your knowledge of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking peoples of the world. SPN 1121 is the second of a three-semester sequence of courses designed exclusively for students who have completed SPN 1120, or equivalent, with a grade of C- or higher. Students who have not taken SPN 1120 must take the placement test at Assessment Services in University Center, Building C, Suite 1200 to determine whether they should enroll in SPN 1120, SPN 1130, or higher. Information regarding the placement test may be found at http://www.fsu.edu/%7Emodlang/undergrad/placement.htm. This course may not be taken concurrently with any SPN 1000-2000 level course and is closed to native or heritage speakers of Spanish. Students who do not comply with the aforementioned requisites risk being dropped by the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics after the Drop/Add Period has ended.

Objectives & Goals: By the end of the semester you will be able to communicate in basic Spanish about a variety of topics, including leisure activities, technology, important life events, and geography. In addition, you will be able to understand, summarize and express opinions about portions of a Spanish film, Sol y viento.
