Enrique Álvarez

Dr. Enrique Álvarez (Ph. D. University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign). Associate Professor of Spanish. Modern Spanish Peninsular Literature and Cultural Studies. Gay and Lesbian Studies and Critical Theory. He is the author of Dentro/Fuera. El espacio homosexual masculino en la poesía española del siglo XX (Madrid: Biblioteca Nueva 2010). His academic interests include the representation of gender and sexuality in contemporary Spanish poetry, the cultural production related to the Spanish Civil War and Spanish art and history of all times. His work has appeared in refereed journals such as Revista Canadiense de Estudios Hispánicos (2010), Hispania (2008), Revista Hispánica Moderna (2006), and Revista de Estudios Hispánicos (2005). His new line of research explores the relationship between visual and verbal texts in the construction of Iberian queer sexualities.
