Iota Eta Chapter

Delta Phi Alpha is the national honor society for students of German. The chapter at FSU, organized in 1979, is Iota Eta. A student who would like to be considered for membership in the honorary can bring or send a current unofficial transcript to:

           Dr. Winnifred Adolph, Advisor
           316B Diffenbaugh
           644-8191.

To be considered, the student must have:

  • at least a 3.5 GPA in German
  • at least a 3.0 GPA overall
  • completed at least three courses above the language requirement (but you may be enrolled in the third course when applying).
  • Membership is by invitation. There is a one-time fee of $10.00 to cover cost of the certificate. Rings or pins are available in different price ranges. Students will be notified by letter, so please be sure your mailing address is shown on the transcript or on a separate note.

Members of Delta Phi Alpha are eligible to apply for a scholarship to study for a year in Germany upon graduation. They must be members in their senior year, which means being accepted by the end of the junior year. Members are initiated once each year, in April. Applications for membership are accepted until December of each year.
