Dr. Yanning Wang’s areas of specialization are pre-modern Chinese literature and culture, women’s literature (especially poetry) and culture, and gender and religious studies.  Women’s writing in late imperial (Ming-Qing) China is one of her major research projects.  She is working on a book manuscript based on her dissertation entitled “Beyond the Boudoir: Women’s Poetry on Travel in Late Imperial China.”
