Essayist, critic and MacArthur Fellow, Stanley Crouch will be the keynote speaker on Friday evening. His latest book, The All-American Skin Game, or, The Decoy of Race, has been nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award. In his speeches, essays and reviews, Crouch gives a refreshing, iconoclastic view on race and culture in American Society. A question/answer session and reception will follow Mr.  Crouch’s presentation.

This conference will provide a forum for over three hundred papers presented by scholars from throughout the U.S. and abroad. The theme invites discussion on both the traditional and contemporary concepts of race in film and literature and their effect on literary and cinematic texts, authors, directors, producers, actors, readers and viewers.

Special conference events include a film screening on Thursday evening and lunch with entertainment by the Mickee Faust Players in the Turnbull Conference Center dining room on Friday. The local comedy troupe will be performing parodies of films and literary works.
