Dr. Ward received her Ph.D in Anthropology from Texas A&M in 1994. She taught at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey and at Texas A&M before coming to Florida State University in 2000. Her research interests include nautical archaeology, Ship reconstruction, and archaeobotanical analysis, and specializes in teaching wooden ships/shipbuilding, archaeobotany, technology and social change, world prehistory, and nautical archaeology.
